WVU Extension to offer new online diabetes education class to fit every schedule

West Virginia University Extension is rolling out a new online version of its popular Dining with Diabetes program, designed to help residents manage diabetes or pre-diabetes without the constraint of a fixed class schedule. The self-paced course costs $20 and includes four flexible online modules that participants can start at any time.

The program focuses on practical nutrition guidance and features cooking demonstrations aimed at making healthy eating more accessible. Organizers say the goal is to provide useful strategies for blood sugar management that fit into daily life, rather than requiring a rigid time commitment. Each module covers topics like carbohydrate counting, label reading, and meal planning, with video content showing how to prepare diabetes-friendly meals.

This approach addresses a common barrier for many West Virginians who want to learn about diabetes management but struggle to attend in-person classes due to work, family obligations, or travel distances. By making the course entirely online and self-directed, WVU Extension hopes to reach more people across the state, including those in rural areas with limited access to health education resources.
