The Haverhill School Department is taking steps to expand its early education offerings by proposing a lease agreement with a private early education and child care facility. The plan involves renting the second floor of Little Sprouts, located at 443 W. Lowell Ave., to create additional preschool slots and facilitate the establishment of an alternative elementary school.
City councilors are scheduled to discuss the lease proposal during their meeting on Tuesday night. The financial terms of the lease are set at $180,000 annually. This initiative aims to address the growing demand for early childhood education in the area, providing families with more options for their children's education.
If approved, this move will not only increase the availability of preschool slots but also contribute to the development of a new educational environment for younger students. The councilors' decision will play a crucial role in shaping the future of early education in Haverhill.
