Texas Education Agency's 2026 accountability ratings for El Paso schools

Public schools across El Paso are starting to see where they stand under the latest state evaluation system. The Texas Education Agency has released its 2026 accountability ratings for campuses in the borderland, giving districts their first official measure of performance since the new framework was introduced.

The ratings are based on a mix of student achievement, academic growth, and how well schools are closing gaps between different groups of learners. For elementary and middle schools, the state looks at reading and math scores, along with how much progress students make from one year to the next. High schools are also judged on graduation rates and how prepared students are for college or a career after they leave.

Some campuses in the region came out with strong marks, while others are facing tougher reviews. District leaders say the ratings are just one snapshot and that they plan to dig into the data to find where extra support is needed. A few schools that did not meet expectations will have to submit improvement plans to the state.

Parents can look up their child's campus rating through the TEA's public portal. The agency will release more detailed reports in the coming weeks, including breakdowns for individual student groups. For now, El Paso educators are using the results to adjust instruction and target resources ahead of the next testing cycle.
