The Rogers County Sheriff's Office has made a significant stride in criminal justice reform by becoming the first in Oklahoma to participate in a groundbreaking national initiative aimed at providing education and training within county jails. This initiative, known as IGNITE, which stands for "Inmate Growth Naturally and Intentionally through Education," is a project of the National Sheriff's Association.
On November 6, the sheriff's office proudly announced that Rogers County is now the 31st county to join this program, which spans across 15 states. The IGNITE program focuses on equipping inmates with valuable skills and knowledge, ultimately aiming to reduce recidivism rates and promote successful reintegration into society upon release.
The program offers a variety of educational opportunities, including vocational training, life skills classes, and personal development workshops. By investing in the education of inmates, the Rogers County Sheriff's Office hopes to foster a positive change in the lives of those incarcerated, paving the way for a safer community in the long run.
