NIXON LIBRARY TO ANNOUNCE NEW EDUCATION BUILDING, BID TEMPORARY FAREWELL TO PRESIDENTIAL HELICOPTER FOR RESTORATION - Richard Nixon Foundation | Richard Nixon Presidential Library & Museum

The Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum in Yorba Linda, California, is set to announce a major expansion on June 29 at 10:00 AM PDT. The library will reveal its plans to construct a new educational building on the campus, marking a significant step in its efforts to expand programming and visitor engagement.

To kick off the announcement, the library will host a ceremonial sendoff for the iconic Presidential Helicopter, which has been a centerpiece of the museum's outdoor exhibits. The aircraft will depart for an 18-month restoration at the March Field Air Museum in Riverside, California. The helicopter, once used by President Nixon and other commanders-in-chief, requires extensive work to preserve it for future generations.

Officials say the new education center will provide space for student programs, lectures, and community events, enhancing the library's role as a hub for learning about American history and the presidency. The restoration of the helicopter is part of ongoing efforts to maintain the library's collection of historic artifacts.

The event is open to the public and will feature remarks from library leadership, as well as a brief ceremony as the helicopter begins its journey to Riverside. The project underscores the library's commitment to both preserving the past and investing in the future of historical education.
