Johnston County Public Schools is set to introduce a new policy that will restrict cellphone usage for both students and teachers during classroom hours. This initiative is designed to create a more focused learning environment, minimizing distractions that can hinder academic performance.
The decision comes after feedback from educators and parents, who expressed concerns about the impact of mobile devices on student engagement and attention. Under the new guidelines, cellphones must be silenced and stored away during instructional time, allowing for a more immersive educational experience.
School officials believe that by limiting cellphone access, students will be encouraged to participate more actively in lessons and foster better communication skills. Teachers will also benefit from a reduction in interruptions, allowing them to maintain a steady flow of instruction.
The policy will be rolled out at the beginning of the upcoming school year, with the aim of promoting a more conducive learning atmosphere across the district.
