The Israeli government has rolled out a comprehensive summer program for students, backed by a budget of 1.1 billion shekels. The initiative aims to blend advanced technology studies with emotional and social support, marking a shift from traditional summer school models.
Education officials confirmed that the program will place a strong emphasis on artificial intelligence and STEM subjects. Thousands of students across the country are expected to participate in specialized workshops and courses designed to boost skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Alongside the academic track, the plan includes a significant component dedicated to mental health. Organizers have arranged for counselors and therapists to be on-site, offering group activities and individual support to help students cope with stress and social challenges.
The program is set to run throughout the summer months, with activities taking place in schools, community centers, and outdoor facilities. Parents can enroll their children in full-day or half-day sessions, depending on their needs. Officials stated that the goal is to prevent learning loss during the long break while also addressing the emotional toll that many young people have experienced in recent years.
Critics have questioned whether the budget is sufficient to cover all the planned activities, but the Ministry of Education has expressed confidence in the rollout. The program is expected to reach hundreds of thousands of students, making it one of the largest summer education efforts in the country's history.
