Starting in Fall 2026, Michigan State University's College of Education will welcome its first cohort for a new online master's program focused on the intersection of artificial intelligence and education. The degree, titled Educational Statistics and AI, is designed to equip educators and professionals with the skills to harness data and machine learning in classroom settings and administrative decision-making.
The program aims to address a growing demand for experts who can interpret educational data and apply AI tools ethically. Coursework will cover statistical modeling, predictive analytics, and the design of AI-driven learning systems, all tailored to real-world educational challenges. University officials emphasize that the curriculum is built for working professionals, offering flexibility through an entirely online format.
This launch comes as schools and universities nationwide grapple with how to integrate AI into teaching without compromising equity or privacy. By focusing on statistics and AI together, the program hopes to produce graduates who can both analyze complex data sets and understand the pedagogical implications of automated systems. The first cohort is expected to fill quickly, reflecting the rising interest in specialized training at the crossroads of technology and learning.
